The poet read several poems and then spoke engagingly about the creative process, the meaning of poetry, and its importance in both personal and public life. The second half of the meeting saw a lively conversation between our guest and the audience.
Peter Gizzi is one of the most important contemporary American poets of the middle generation. He has been nominated for, among other things, the National Book Award in 2016. Last year, he received the prestigious T. S. Eliot Prize for his 2023 volume "Fierce Elegy." A Polish translation of this collection, by Professor Kacper Bartczak, has just been published by the Silesian Library.
We would like to thank the author and all those present for the meeting and lively discussion.
